 ASTPO personnel:


·  Conduct scientific research in areas such as water quality and the effect of nutrients on coastal ecosystems, wetland and coastal ecosystem conservation and restoration, and the impact of climate change on the Gulf of Mexico


·  Develop and apply remote sensing algorithms and analysis techniques, environmental sensors, and intelligent, adaptive sensor systems.


· Provides day-to-day oversight of the Gulf of Mexico Initiative for NASA Headquarters

   
NASA satellites monitor the impact of the flooding along the lower Mississippi River and the opening of the Bonnet Carre' Spillway.
